HCI’s Healthspace Cloud^®is a SaaS/PaaS healthcare infrastructure using an Inheritance-based Organic Network (ION) architecture that differs from traditional methods of managing identity, access, and knowledge. Traditionally, identity and access management systems have been designed to be centrally administered, and configured to externally control various knowledge bases.

HCI has created a three pronged approach using a unique combination of identity management, knowledge management and an application framework on a single cloud based environment. The identity and access management sub-system supports both centrally and distributed means by mimicking the natural interactions of a social network.

Knowledge management is directly embedded within security roles and each owner of information is also given the ability to share information and programs. The knowledge management sub-system is capable of integrating both local and remote data stores. This flexible framework allows for a powerful search capability across data stores. The application framework is a development platform where gadgets and workflows reside, distributing functionality and knowledge through various interfaces, including web UIs, Winform UIs, mobile UIs (iPhone, Droid, etc), J2E, etc.
