New Cloud-Based Healthcare Operating System Launched by Healthcare Interactive
GLENWOOD, MD. --April 4, 2012-- The average annual premium for family coverage through an employer-sponsored health plan reached $15,073 in 2011, an increase of 9% over the previous year, according to a 2011 survey conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation.
But employers can avoid those cost hikes -- if they leverage technology to their advantage. With their recent launch of the Healthspace Cloud™, Maryland-based Healthcare Interactive (HCI) has emerged as a leading provider of cloud-based healthcare IT infrastructure that can empower plan sponsors and their healthcare service providers to improve member health and save money on their benefit costs.
"HCI helps companies deal with the uncertainty engendered by health reform," said Henry Cha, President of Healthcare Interactive. "Flexible architecture allows our Healthspace Cloud™ to consume data from existing systems, then present meaningful information and analytic measures that our clients can use to improve their benefits programs and manage member populations."
HCI's cloud-based platform analyzes health data for employers, benefits consultants, and health management firms -- and provides insight for preventing and mitigating potentially costly health risks within a population of covered beneficiaries.
"HCI is unique in that we go beyond risk stratification-we also provide the technology toolset to implement targeted programs to engage those populations and influence behavior," said Chris Mueller, Vice President of HCI. “In turn, improved outcomes reduce overall healthcare costs.”
Taking a step beyond data analysis and presentation, HCI’s platform also presents users with a "Campaign Builder", a workflow-based healthcare marketing tool that can target and engage risk-specific subsets of the membership to encourage participation in activities from care management to wellness programs. “Medical management providers who use campaigns can systematically reach out to members to achieve individual and organizational-level health goals whose efficacy can be quantitatively measured,” reported Alexandra Stuehler, Chief Scientist at HCI.
Brokers and health management firms have also been showing keen interest in HCI’s platform to expand their value proposition to clients. In addition, HCI's software can also help with regulatory compliance, as its wellness and disease management applications qualify as medical expenses under the law's "meaningful use" and "medical loss ratio" rules. The Healthspace Cloud™ can also help health management companies with standards-based certification such as NCQA or URAC accreditation.
"Health reform has fundamentally changed the American healthcare landscape," explained Cha. "At HCI, we're doing our part to help all sorts of entities save money, comply with the law, and most importantly, deliver care more efficiently."
