Recently HCI's VP of business develpment, Chris Mueller and George Pantos, the executive director of the HPM Institute penned an insightful article on the ins and outs of leveraging cloud computing for healthcare delivery.  In summary:

• Cloud-based solutions offer an oppurtunity for plan sponsors to quickly and proactively manage their health plans and the health care delivered to their employees.
• Service providers provision and maintain the cloud at an off-site data center. Users access software and services remotely via the internet using web or mobile devices.
• Cloud-to-cloud services allow systems to consume data and web services from systems, particularly other clouds.
• As a mainstream technology delivery model, the cloud is still in it's infancy.
